A.L.C Fall Ready-to-Wear Collection 2013

While designing her latest collection, Andrea Lieberman kept flashing back to an image of Debbie Harry looking tough in Amos Poe's 1978 film The Foreigner. She put her own spin on that Blondie moment with punky leather jackets and zipped stovepipes. Lieberman's touch, even on tough-girl classics, is glamorous. One of the bikers even came with allover gold studs. Her not-so-basic tee was done in haircalf stamped with a cable pattern. Her sweatshirt—the latest in fashion's long and getting longer line of fetishized sweats—incorporated glossy pony hair and tech-y nylon. This season Lieberman also raised the bar for luxury at A.L.C., by experimenting with fabrics that had more depth and structure, like a wood-grain jacquard that was cut into a super slim suit. But the ultimate takeaway here was great outerwear: Classic, substantial wool coats with leather sleev
